Day 23- New Hardi-Plank

The company started on our house yesterday(friday) and this is what it looks like right now. This is the weather barrier that they put up before the siding. The crafter in me is hoping that they have some of this tyvek left that I can keep to play with! Our house is mostly brick but the back isn't. We bought the house four years ago and the siding was in bad shape then. After the hurricane we noticed that the edge of the siding had come loose from the high winds so that was the icing on the cake! I hope they get it all finished today and that I have a great photo to show you tomorrow!!!!

Day 22- Birds, Birds, Birds!

On our walk this morning I saw all these beautiful birds in the ditch that runs in the back of my neighborhood. This was as close as I could get to them because I was on the wrong side of the ditch. They really are pretty and big! There is usually one or two out there but today there were about 12 of them!! What a treat! Click on the picture to make it larger, you can really see them much better!!!

Day 21- First rose of the year

My first rose of the year is blooming!! The name of this rose is Sunsprite patio tree rose bush. It's made to live in a container. It works perfect too because in the winter if we get freezing weather I can just bring the pot inside and not have to worry about it. It blooms all summer and has a wonderful smell!!! I have just ordered another rose bush and am excited to get it!! I'll post pictures later in the season once the new one starts to bloom!

Day 20- Knitted Baby Booties

I have a new niece that is due in early March. I had started a baby blanket for her but that turned into a disaster so now I'm moving on to baby booties. I've made several using this pattern. If I have time I would like to make her a little cardigan to match! I can't wait for her to arrive!! When I'm done I'll post a picture of the finished booties!

Day 19- Bug!

I was out and about and saw this bug on this rose. He is a cute little bug and I have no idea what he is. I've never seen one like it before. If you click on the picture it will make it bigger and you can see him better. Just thought I'd share him with you today!

Day 18- Hungry Hawk?

This was the best picture I could get. There were two hawks stalking me and Jiggs on our walk! I think they must of been hungry but decided that Jiggs was too much trouble! Thank goodness! We have a ton of hawks around here and I can often hear them squawking at one another. I love to watch them soar through the sky! OK, I like to watch them soar through the sky as long as they aren't trying to eat my dog!

Day 17- Thunder Kiss

This is a picture of a poster that Nathan and I made 5 years ago. He likes to cut pictures of eye's out and once he had a collection of them we did put them onto a poster board with modge podge.

Day 16- Leaves

This is a tree in my neighborhood that is changing colors. We don't really have too many trees around here that do this. It's nice to have this one so close so I can see it for a few days! Too bad today is cloudy....

These are all the leaves that have fallen from the tree. They are scattered all over the sidewalk and made it look like a really pretty sea of red!

Day 15- Buc-ee's

I was on a road trip yesterday and we stopped at this gas station named Buc-ee's. This stuffed beaver was standing outside the front of the store and I thought it was funny! This is the fanciest convenient store I've ever been too. It had marble in the bathrooms and really fancy tile floors. I felt like I was in a restaurant! Here is a link to some photos of the store that I found on their website.

Day 14- Jiggs meets another dog!

This was the highlight of Jiggs walk!!! We were on our daily walk when this little guy came running up to us! He is just a puppy and had escaped from it's yard. He was really cute and his name tag said Toby! I took him home but Jiggs was wishing he could of come along for the walk!

Day 13- Can you guess what this is??

I live in an area with tons of refineries. This picture is of a warning sound system. If there is any chemical leak that is dangerous these things will go off. There are tons of them all around the city and in the next two cities over. They test them once a month to make sure they are working probably. If they go off you are to go inside, shut all the windows and doors and turn off the air conditioner. You know all is clear when they sound again. Sometimes if we have really bad weather and a funnel cloud has been spotted they will also go off. That isn't as common though. Mainly it's because there has been an explosion or fire at one of the chemical plants.

Day 12- Inside a flower

This is a flower that is blooming in my backyard right now. I can't for the life of me remember what they are called. I planted them last spring. I have orange, yellow, pink and white. I can't believe they have lasted this long!

Day 11- Going, going, going......gone!

This is a picture of Jiggs at the park from yesterday (Sunday). We had beautiful weather and spent a couple hours at the park. I stick him at the top of the slide then down he goes all by himself. I don't know if he likes it really or just does it to please his mommy!!!!

Day 10- Sunset

One thing about where I live is I get these beautiful sunsets. I took this standing in my backyard. You are likely to see more over the next year. It makes me sad to think that some people don't realize the beauty that God has given us for free. How can you not stop and look at something like this!

Day 9- A horse is a horse, of course, of course.....

Well I had to do two pictures today because I couldn't decide which I liked better! This cute horse lives a couple streets away from. Him and about five others. I pulled over today and they all came running up to the fence but this was the only one who wanted to talk! The others just watched me. He seemed pretty friendly and I was sorry I didn't have anything to give him in return for letting me take photos of him. Maybe tomorrow I can go by and take some carrots to him!

Day 8- Pine Cones

This is a pine cone that fell from my pine tree. There are always a lot of them this time of year. The squirrels like to eat them and I often find just the cores left lying around the yard. I use to collect them but I have so many now that I don't save them anymore. They usually stay in the yard until we mow, then I toss them in the trash.

Day 7- Ever wonder what the inside of a storm drain looks like?

Now you know!!! Went to the park today and there is a little storm drain there so I thought why not take a photo of the inside of it! I think it looks pretty much like what I thought it would look like!

Day 6- It's freezing out there!

This is a picture of my frozen birdbath this morning. I think the temps got down to around 29 or 30 last night. I know when I woke up at 5:30 this morning is was only 61 inside and I had to turn the heat on!! I feel sorry for the poor little birds.....what will they drink? LOL!!! The high today is suppose to be 55 so the water will thaw soon and it will be back to business for the birds!

Day 5- Bolt in tire.

As I was coming home from walking Jiggs I just happened to look at the tire on Nathan's truck and this is what I saw! A giant bolt/screw in his back tire. I took it to Discount Tires. They told me it was unable to be fixed because of where it had entered. The good news was they had that tire in stock and even better news we had bought the warranty on the old tire so I was only going to have to pay $28 to have a brand new tire put on!!! Yahoo!!!! It really does pay to get the insurance on your tires when you buy them new. This is the third time, over the years, that we have had to use the insurance because of stupid nails!!

Day 4- Christmas Cactus

I've had this Christmas Cactus for about six years now and it's only bloomed once. One day I was walking Jiggs and my neighbor had trimmed her Christmas Cactus and threw the clipping in a bucket by the road. I gathered them up, about 6 of them, and stuck them in some dirt. Six years later this is what it looks like. I was looking at it this morning and thinking what pretty green leaves it has. I've tried forcing it to bloom by sticking it in a dark spot for six weeks. It didn't work. I have finally given up and don't think it will ever bloom. I have just recently moved it to this sunny spot in the living room. Maybe the extra sun will help.

Day 3-Is it spring or winter?

I think my plum tree is confused. The weather around here is cold for two days then near the 80's for a week. I guess living in Texas I should be use to crazy weather patterns. We actually got 3" of snow two weeks before Christmas! Well with all this crazy weather one of my plum trees bloomed and gave me a little plum. Of course it's not going to mature because it's already turned cold again. Here's to not knowing weather to bloom or not!!!

Day 2- The sun always shines on a cloudy day!

This is a picture I took while standing in my backyard. The sun had been shining and our high was near record setting for this time of year. It was 78! By the afternoon the clouds started rolling in and I thought oh what a pretty picture. When I was little and saw sunbeams shooting down like that I was told that it was God taking all his souls to Heaven! Every time I see the beams of light poking through the clouds I still think of that!

Day 1-Nothings better then a little sun!

This is Jiggs. He is my baby and a very spoiled 10 year old Boston Terrier. There isn't anything he likes better then laying in the sun. I open the window and it lets in all this sunshine and you an find him there more often then not! On this occasion he also has some rawhide bone stuck to his nose! LOL!!! He loves chewing on his bone and if I don't catch it time it dries on there. We have to wait for it to come off on it's on or wait until his nose gets really wet then it will peel off. That stuff dries like glue!! Anyway...this is my first day in pictures!

The beginning

Well there has been a lot of talk of this 365 day project. It has to do with scrapbooking. I know me and I know I would never be able to do one scrapbook page a day. It takes me hours and hours to do one and I don't have that kind of time! LOL!!! I stole the idea of using photos of my life instead from Angie. I like the idea of adding a picture once a day and having a wonderful collection to look back on at the end of it all. I'll do my best to keep up and hope that I don't slack! Wish me luck and here is to everyone having a great year!
